A week before my 18th birthday i decided to get a tattoo. My mom had no problem with it
and my family members all agreed it was ok, i mean considering they all have tattoos too. I've never really been told anything
bad about my tattoo until my uncles wife asked when did i get my tattoo and i told her "a week before my birthday...my
mom knows" she comes back at me telling me "if god wanted tattoos on you he would of put them on himself" i laughed and told
her "no, cause he didnt know which ones i would want." And she gave me this weird look.
i knew there were people who didnt like tattoos. I mean if mine is small i can only
imagine how people are with others who have sleeves full of tattoos. People who talk in disagreement about tattoos always
in bring God and what he thinks or wants for us. I dont like to bring religious things into the subject only because
it makes a bigger conflict so why is it that people do that. I figure its cause they're so upset and have no other comebacks.
Piercings too have also been talked about over the ages whether it be the bellybutton, the nose
the lip or the gauges. People call it body modification. They disagree with these because it pierces
your body for good.

Tattoos and Piercings to me is just like art. I think it looks good and it shows a
creative side to a person it also shows others that you can still be yourself as an individual. Tattoos are colorful, unique
and most them have a story or some kind of meaning to them.
Some tattoos represent symbols and challenges a person has faced well most of
them. I personally have a green clover and it represents my last my last which celtic. I chose to get it cause it resembled
something that was a part of me. I have friends and family members whos tattoos are dedicated to lost loved ones, past
happenings in their lifetimes and also just to get it. In different cultures tattoos are respected. They
represent how ones journey can change their life and how they are ready for the next step in their life. For example
when a women is ready to get a tattoo it means she is ready to for commitment. The tattoo is applied to her face she is to
lay quitely and without moving these are signs that she is brave. By the time the tattoo is done she is able to celebrate
by being able to choose her partner and that is a big step in a womens life in that tribe.
Piercings too are also done to show how brave a person is. Like, in the tribes for example,
in some tribes women and men get plates or gauges of some sort inserted into their bottom lip. As they get older the
plate or gauge gets bigger and that shows how mature or how brave they are just by being able to take the pain that comes
with the piercing.
Many cultures including ours embrace tattoos and piercings. Their symbolism for them is
meaning ful and and have a history to them in some way. Thats why i consider it to be body art

Tattoos and Piercings to me is just like art. I think it looks good and it shows a
creative side to a person it also shows others that you can still be yourself as an individual. Tattoos are colorful, unique
and most them have a story or some kind of meaning to them. Tattoos sometimes symbolize what cult or tribe they belong
to. When people see the symbols they automatically stereotype whether its right or wrong.
For instance in some tribes leaders or chiefs show their higher power by a word or picture showing
their rank in the tribe. In other tribes and cultures some women get pierced or some get temporary marks on their body. In
the hindu culture women decorate a part of their body with henna a temporary tattoo.
Another places where tattoos represent a standing in a cult is in prison. Prisoners make their
own tattoo machines and they tattoo other prisoners according to what cult or race they belong to. For instance in prisons
they have their group of nazi's for say. These Nazi's get pictures of swastika symbols on their back or any other
part of their bodies. By them doing that it show anyone who aproaches them that they are apart of that cult. In a prison
in russia not only do tattoos show who someone is they also show what they did to get there. For example a person who has
committed murder would get a word or picture explaing what happened. Some prisoners have pretty horrific pictures explaining
their past. But there are some prisoners who's tattoos have nothin to do with their reason for being in jail some tell the
story of their families whom they miss.
Either way tattoos have a story and some tell all and some dont. Depending on your past and what
is to come of your future tattoos will basically be around explaining their reason for being on your body.

People have their opinions about tattoos and piercings. Some are good and some bad. In the old
servants would pierce their ears to show loyalty and in many tribes and religions tattoos are viewed as symbolic. People
whos opinions about tattoos are good usually would agree with me that they cool and they probably would consider
it to be art. The ones with bad opinions always say that they're ugly and not appropriate. They talk about how
rebellious you are and how god wouldnt want you doing that to the body he created.
The people with bad opinions always have more things to disagree with, even with piercings.
Considering the pierced hole doesnt go away its obvious to see why they would be upset its pretty ugly to see a open
gauged ear. They say the body is a temple and you should protect it but if a person who has big pierced holes in
his/her ears with a huge tattoo on their back and is fine with his/her outcome in 40 years to come then so be it why
should anyone elses words matter.
Many people have their opinions about tattoos and piercings some good and some bad. But
either way people are going to disagree whether you believe different. Most of the people who believe different try to
make others see their way of right. A person with tattoos or piercings shouldnt let what others say about them get to them.
Yes it is your temple but then again it is YOUR body.
